Default to enclosed
Set data-transport-type to enclosed on collector listings. An enclosed car carrier protects the vehicle from road debris and weather and typically carries fewer vehicles, which is why it costs more than an open car carrier. Documentation buyers expect
High-value buyers expect a thorough pickup inspection with photos, a signed bill of lading and clear cargo insurance terms from the carrier. Encourage sellers to prepare a detailed vehicle condition report before pickup.
Timing around auction close
Listings that end on a schedule create predictable transport demand. Pass a ship date a week or two after close so the first quote reflects a realistic pickup window.
Questions
Can we force enclosed transport only?
You can make enclosed the default with data-transport-type. The buyer can still change it in the form, because some buyers of sturdier vehicles prefer open transport to save cost.
Does the quote include insurance?
Carriers carry their own cargo insurance, and coverage terms are part of the booking with the fulfillment partner. Buyers with very high-value vehicles should confirm coverage limits before pickup.
